If you have kids you will already appreciate just how much more expensive it is to book a summer holiday during the school break but a recent study by Santander has shown that trips abroad don’t just go up a little during the school holidays, the prices of foreign summer holidays rocket as the kids break up from school.

The survey showed that the cost of a foreign family holidays rise in price by an average of 38 per cent during the school holidays with some peak periods being as much as 85 per cent more expensive than dates when the kids are in school. In 2004 local authorities in the UK introduced a fines system to discourage parents from taking their children out of school during term time in order to save money on their holidays.
